Pakistan Set to Receive LNG as Tanker Passes Through Strait of Hormuz

Pakistan is set to receive urgently needed liquefied natural gas after a vessel carrying Qatari gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz, with another cargo ship expected to follow. According to Sina Finance, ship-tracking data showed the Al Marrouna passed through the waterway earlier this week and is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Thursday. Traders familiar with the matter said another tanker loaded with Qatari LNG is expected to cross the strait in the coming days, also bound for Pakistan. The development likely means Pakistan will not need to buy large volumes of LNG in the spot market, where prices have climbed to their highest level since late 2022. The Strait of Hormuz had been nearly shut to shipping, disrupting supplies from Qatar, Pakistan's largest supplier, while the government has been facing rolling blackouts.
