China’s Transport Ministry Calls for Optimizing National Transport Corridors and Integrated Network

China’s Ministry of Transport held an executive meeting chaired by Party Secretary and Minister Liu Wei to review draft rules on general aviation operating license procedures and general aviation business management. According to Jin10, the meeting also heard a briefing on navigation safety保障 work during the construction period of the new Three Gorges water transport channel. The meeting said authorities should strengthen implementation of the main functional zones strategy, further optimize the layout of national comprehensive transport corridors, and improve the country’s integrated, multidimensional transport network. It also called for advancing major transport corridors that cross regions and river basins, improving integrated transport systems for modern metropolitan areas, and enhancing service functions of national comprehensive transport hub cities. The ministry said these efforts are intended to support coordinated regional development and the optimization of major productive capacity布局. The meeting added that building the new Three Gorges water transport channel would help improve navigation capacity on the Yangtze River’s “golden waterway” and better support high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
