KB Financial's Stablecoin Pilot Reduces Remittance Fees by 87%

KB Financial has successfully completed a stablecoin pilot on the Kaia platform, aimed at facilitating offline payments and cross-border remittances. According to NS3.AI, the test demonstrated a significant reduction in remittance fees, cutting costs by 87% compared to traditional SWIFT transactions. The pilot involved converting a won-denominated stablecoin into a US dollar stablecoin, which was then transferred to a bank account in Vietnam in less than three minutes. KB Financial is reportedly gearing up to offer stablecoin services once South Korea finalizes its digital asset regulations.
