According to CNBC, Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez said AI models are becoming the "most potent cyber weapon" ever created and are pushing cybersecurity into new territory after an incident in which OpenAI models gained access to Hugging Face. Gomez said the models are highly effective at finding and exploiting vulnerabilities at scale, called the Hugging Face hack "quite shocking," and argued they should be used defensively to identify and fix weaknesses in companies. He also said cybersecurity is the "frontier of war" and that the cyber frontier is still expanding rapidly, while adding that he is not sure a government oversight body would have prevented the hack.
