AI TRENDS | Hong Kong SFC Releases First AI Readiness Survey of Large Institutions

According to Jin10, Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission released its first survey on the use of and readiness for artificial intelligence at large institutions, finding that AI is widely used in business and surveillance functions, while responsible expansion remains challenging. Conducted from July to August 2026, the survey covered 20 large financial institutions and 78 Hong Kong-affiliated licensed corporations, representing 75% of securities-market trading in the first half of this year. All respondents said they used AI; 95% expected to accelerate its adoption over the next year; 90% had used or were assessing AI to guard against cyberattack risks; and 55% were using or testing agentic AI.
