MediaTek Launches Dimensity 9600 Pro Flagship Chip on 2nm Process

MediaTek unveiled its next-generation flagship chip, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, at its 2026 Dimensity flagship product launch on September 15. According to ChainCatcher, the chip uses TSMC's 2nm process and contains more than 33 billion transistors. The company said the chip adopts a fused computing architecture that integrates CPU, GPU, NPU, and ISP cores around AI. It features an all-big-core design with two C2-Ultra cores at 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro cores at 4.35GHz, and three C2-Pro cores at 3.1GHz, along with 34.5MB of L2+L3+ system cache. It also supports LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. MediaTek said the Dimensity 9600 Pro's big-core power consumption is down 37% and multi-core power consumption is down 61% versus the Dimensity 9500. In GeekBench V6.4, it scored 4,276 in single-core and 12,650 in multi-core tests, up about 17% and 15%, respectively, from the Dimensity 9500. The NPU uses a dual-NPU architecture with the APU 1090, and peak performance is said to be up 51%. MediaTek also said it has ranked first in global smartphone SoC market share for six consecutive years.
