Brent crude rose above $101 a barrel for the first time since July as attacks in the Middle East intensified and stoked concern over further disruption to energy supplies from a major oil-producing region. According to Sina Finance, Brent settled up more than 3% in New York at $101.21 a barrel, while WTI closed at $96.05. Copper also climbed to record highs in London and New York as traders weighed tariff concerns, supply shortages, and uncertainty over demand from the escalating conflict in the Middle East. According to Sina Finance, LME three-month copper briefly reached $14,858.50 a metric ton, while COMEX copper hit a record $6.894 a pound. Gold pared gains after the U.S. Treasury said it would expand long-dated bond buybacks to $6 billion, pushing Treasury yields higher and briefly helping the dollar recover. According to Sina Finance, spot gold rose 1% to $4,400.06 an ounce at 4:54 p.m. in New York, after earlier gaining as much as 1.8%.
