Anthropic's IPO filing materials are expected to be released soon. According to Sina Finance, OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar said at Goldman Sachs' annual Communacopia + Technology Conference in San Francisco that pricing has become a key factor in determining demand for large language models. Friar said OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Luna saw call volume jump tenfold after its price was cut, helping OpenAI take the top market share on OpenRouter, an aggregation platform that lets developers access multiple large language models. According to Sina Finance, Friar's remarks suggested that higher usage can offset lower unit prices. Anthropic has already responded by cutting the price of its new Fable 5.1 model by 25% versus Fable 5 under normal workloads, according to the company. The article said price competition could reshape Anthropic's revenue advantage as open-source AI adds more low-cost options.
