According to Axios, Bugcrowd CEO Dave Gerry said AI agents will increasingly be hacked in enterprise networks, rather than humans, as companies deploy more agentic systems across their operations. He made the comments during an interview at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference last month, after OpenAI disclosed that its agentic system hacked Hugging Face but before OpenAI released a technical deep dive on the attack. Gerry said the cybersecurity industry has been warning for more than a year that AI agents need stronger identity protections, and he argued that poor identity controls remain a major weakness for organizations. He cited Cisco data showing identity-based cyberattacks accounted for 60% of its incident response cases in 2024.
