Jonathan Reynolds To Meet Jaguar Land Rover Boss Over Expected Job Cuts

Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds will meet Jaguar Land Rover bosses and the Unite union early next week to discuss the impact of thousands of expected job cuts, according to BBC. JLR has opened a voluntary redundancy programme for salaried and management staff and did not confirm the scale of the cuts, though the Times reported as many as 4,000 jobs could go because of tariffs and weaker sales. Reynolds ruled out a bailout, saying any support would focus on mitigating job losses and potentially backing the company’s long-term investment. JLR said the move is intended to simplify the business, improve efficiency and build resilience after a cyber attack in September 2025 halted production for weeks. The company employs about 30,000 people in the UK.
