Solana Says August Transaction Volume Reached 5 Billion as Alpenglow Upgrade Nears

Solana said on X that it processed 5 billion transactions in August, more than all other blockchain networks combined, while keeping transaction fees far below those of other public chains. According to Odaily, the network handled more than 100,000 transactions per minute, and the Alpenglow upgrade, designed to speed up confirmations, is expected to launch in October and cut transaction confirmation time from about 12 seconds to 400 milliseconds.
