Brazil's Crypto Purchases Fall Nearly 80% in July, Central Bank Says

Brazil's central bank said crypto purchases totaled $572 million in July, down nearly 80% from $2.6 billion in June and nearly 60% from $1.4 billion in July 2025. According to Odaily, Fernando Rocha, head of the central bank's statistics department, said the change reflects exchanges adapting to the new regulatory environment for digital assets, with anti-money laundering controls and governance requirements weighing on transaction flows. Brazil's cumulative crypto purchases since the start of 2026 reached $15.25 billion, more than double the $7.6 billion recorded in the same period of 2025. The central bank said most of the transactions involved stablecoins.
