According to a statement from the Vietnamese government, Vietnamese President To Lam asked Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon at a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday to increase investment in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics, 5G/6G, data centers, and next-generation connectivity technologies. The statement said Qualcomm wants to develop its business in Vietnam into the company's third-largest global artificial intelligence research and development center. Another statement said Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh told Samsung Electronics CEO Roh Tae-moon that Vietnam hopes Samsung will continue to be an important partner in strengthening the country's technological capabilities, developing its industrial base, and integrating more deeply into global value chains. The statement said Samsung's mobile manufacturing entity in Vietnam has cumulatively exported $500 billion since production began 17 years ago, as of the end of June, and that Samsung has invested $24 billion in Vietnam so far.
