SEBI Switches FPI Registration Fees to Rupee Payments, With Changes Taking Effect in Six Months

India’s Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended its foreign portfolio investor (FPI) rules by replacing U.S. dollar-denominated registration fees with rupee-denominated payments. According to NS3.AI, the amended regulations will be effective in the next six months. Under the changes, Category-I FPI registration fees were revised from $1,000 to Rs 90,000. Fees for foreign venture capital investors (FVCIs) were also updated, changing from $2,500 to Rs 2.3 lakh.
