An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said some merchant ships have sailed without coordination and have turned off or tampered with Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals. According to Jin10, the spokesperson said this behavior increases maritime security and environmental risks and hinders safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
