Trump said he believed the United States was “winning this contest,” and that “real victory” would come within two weeks. He added that when the United States announced “total victory,” it would be a complete victory and would happen soon, and he said oil prices would fall sharply at that time. U.S. media reports noted that this was not the first time Trump had said major progress would come “within two weeks.” The reports also said a U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement announced on April 7 in U.S. Eastern Time was initially set to “last two weeks” to allow both sides to complete negotiations on a final agreement to end the conflict.
