Fiserv Launches 24/7 Cash Settlement Platform for Digital Asset Companies

Fiserv, a prominent U.S. payments and financial technology provider, has introduced a new cash settlement platform designed for digital asset companies. According to Cointelegraph, this initiative aims to enhance fiat infrastructure for crypto entities and improve liquidity access. The platform, named INDX, was announced on Thursday and offers real-time cash settlement capabilities, operating continuously throughout the year. It enables digital asset firms to transfer U.S. dollars instantly using a single custodial account, potentially transforming how exchanges, trading desks, and other crypto businesses manage their fiat balances. INDX will be accessible to over 1,100 insured financial institutions within the Fiserv Deposit Network, providing up to $25 million in Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) coverage. This development is significant as many digital asset companies still rely on traditional banking systems that function only during business hours or on onchain token transfers for dollar value movement. By facilitating round-the-clock U.S. dollar settlement within the banking system, INDX offers a functionality akin to blockchain-based settlement while remaining offchain. Fiserv, a global leader in payments and financial services technology, generated over $21 billion in revenue in fiscal 2025. The company has also expanded its presence in digital assets, participating in North Dakota’s state-backed stablecoin initiative by providing payments and settlement infrastructure. The introduction of INDX exemplifies the ongoing convergence between traditional finance (TradFi) and digital assets. For institutional clients, the platform offers a familiar banking framework while introducing faster, always-on cash management capabilities. This system could position Fiserv ahead of legacy banking partners that still rely on batch-based processing for U.S. dollar transfers. For crypto infrastructure providers, including exchanges, trading desks, stablecoin issuers, and custodians, reliable, real-time dollar liquidity can offer a significant operational advantage. In December, Fiserv completed the acquisition of Stone Castle Cash Management, enhancing its FIUSD stablecoin, launched in June 2025. Beyond settlement speed, stablecoins are increasingly seen by traditional financial institutions as liquidity infrastructure. Always-on digital dollars can facilitate collateral movement, treasury operations, and cross-border payments with fewer intermediaries and less settlement friction. While INDX is notable for combining traditional bank settlement with continuous-dollar availability tailored to digital-asset companies, other firms have also prioritized real-time settlement. For instance, Sygnum operates a multi-asset network enabling instant settlement across fiat currencies, stablecoins, and other digital assets for institutional clients. Similarly, Fireblocks supports real-time settlement infrastructure for stablecoins and digital asset transfers, aiding institutions in streamlining liquidity management.
