US ICE Agent Charged Over Minnesota Shooting Of Venezuelan Migrant

According to the BBC, a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent has been charged with lying about the non-fatal shooting of a Venezuelan migrant in Minnesota. Christian Castro faces federal charges over the 14 January shooting, and a grand jury returned a six-count indictment on Wednesday, according to CBS, the BBC's US media partner. The Department of Homeland Security initially said Castro fired in self-defense after being attacked by three Venezuelan migrants with a shovel and broom handle. Minnesota investigators allege he fired through a closed door and shot the man in the leg. Castro was released from custody in Texas last week and also faces separate state charges of assault and false reporting of a crime related to the shooting.
