This development comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to remain at the forefront of technological advancements, including AI’s role in enhancing business operations and creative industries.
AI-Driven Filmmaking: A Strategic Move for Tether
The company, widely known for its stablecoin USDT, has set its sights on AI-based roles in filmmaking as part of its broader strategy to adapt to the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, explained that AI’s role in filmmaking offers distinct advantages, particularly in terms of scalability, speed, and cost.
Ardoino stated in an email:
"AI-based roles, particularly in filmmaking, bring unique advantages that align with Tether’s vision of innovation and efficiency, from scale to speed and cost being a few examples."
Building a Team to Drive AI Innovation
Tether has already begun assembling a specialised team for this AI filmmaking project.
Over the past few months, the company has hired 30 experts, with plans to increase its workforce to 200 by mid-2025.
Job postings have been made globally, targeting filmmakers from regions such as Europe, Asia-Pacific, Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil, highlighting the company's international ambitions.
This expansion is key to building the platform that Tether envisions to integrate AI into its filmmaking process.
Investment in AI and Cloud Computing
In addition to its recruitment efforts, Tether is also pursuing strategic investments.
The company has moved forward with acquiring part of Northern Data, an AI and cloud computing firm, although specific details of this acquisition remain scarce.
Tether is strengthening its AI capabilities with a focus on scalability and cloud technology.
The company is committed to advancing its services and infrastructure.
Tether's Financial Power in the Crypto Market
Tether, with its USDT token, is the dominant force in the stablecoin market, controlling 67% of the market share, with $138 billion in circulation.
This gives the company the financial muscle to fuel its expansion into new technological sectors like AI.
Despite the firm’s reputation for operational success, it has faced challenges, such as links to illicit activities, including allegations involving criminal organisations and hackers.
However, Tether has demonstrated a willingness to cooperate with authorities in freezing tokens associated with illegal activities.
The firm has also navigated regulatory hurdles in Europe, where USDT has faced suspension on certain crypto exchanges due to the European Union’s regulatory framework.
The Role of AI Filmmaker at Tether
According to the job posting, the role of AI Filmmaker involves the use of AI-powered photo and video tools to create and edit short films and videos.
These videos will play a crucial role in telling the company’s story, showcasing products, and aligning with the brand’s messaging.
However, the rise of AI-generated videos has sparked concerns over authenticity and the potential for misuse.
