Dongwu Securities said its securities investment fund custody qualification has been formally approved by China's securities regulator, making it the first broker in nearly four years to win the license and the 30th broker in the industry to do so, according to Jiemian News. The approval ends a near-four-year pause in new broker custody licenses and follows China's 2025 draft rules that raised the net asset threshold for broker applicants from 20 billion yuan to 30 billion yuan.
Jiemian News reported that Dongwu submitted its application in October 2022, the regulator formally accepted it in August 2026, and the license was granted recently. As of the end of June 2026, 68 institutions had been approved as securities investment fund custodians, including 37 banks, 29 brokers, China Securities Depository and Clearing Corp., and China Securities Finance Corp.; Dongwu's approval lifts the broker count to 30. The company said it will use the license to provide integrated trading, custody and outsourcing services to asset managers.
