Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui said on Monday that Hong Kong will launch a new initiative called the Green Accelerator later in the day to turn green technologies into investable and scalable projects, according to RTHK.
Hui said the initiative will channel private capital towards climate solutions where it is most needed and create new opportunities for Hong Kong's professional services. He said it will provide systematic pre-finance support and project structuring to address a shortage of investment-ready green projects.
Speaking at the 2026 Hong Kong Green Finance Association and Greater Bay Area Green Finance Alliance Annual Forum, Hui said many Belt and Road economies require substantial financing for green development and climate resilience. He added that Hong Kong aims to act as a facilitator, connector and partner, and will continue to deepen collaboration with the mainland, the Greater Bay Area and the international community.
