Foresight News reported that the Cardano Foundation shared details of a discussion with Volvo Group on blockchain applications in manufacturing. According to Foresight News, Ivan Branco, who oversees information management, artificial intelligence, and data analysis for Volvo Group's Belgian truck business, said Volvo once created a proprietary cryptocurrency for internal testing of supplier payment processes.
Branco said the technology is already usable, but the supporting organizational culture has not kept pace, which he described as a harder problem than the technology itself. He added that supply chain compliance is an important use case for blockchain. If assembled parts include components from sanctioned countries, manufacturers may face repeated fines, while a shared ledger among suppliers could address trust issues at the source.
