The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency takes action to combat de-banking

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced Monday that it will take steps to combat so-called "debanking," responding to calls from industry groups and Republicans to end what is seen as an unfair practice. "The OCC is taking steps to end the weaponization of the financial system," said OCC Director Jonathan Gould, adding that the agency will work to root out banks that illegally discriminate against customers based on their political or religious beliefs.
