Odaily Planet Daily News The police in the Republic of Buryatia, Russia, recently seized a case of illegal electricity theft by a "truck"-mounted cryptocurrency mine. The mine was connected to a 10 kV transmission line without authorization. The staff discovered and reported it during a routine inspection. 95 mining machines and a transformer were seized on site, and its power supply capacity can cover a small residential area.
It is reported that this is the sixth similar case seized in the Buryat region this year. From November 15th to March 15th of the following year, any crypto mining activities except for specific areas are prohibited, and only registered companies are allowed to operate within a limited period. The energy department pointed out that illegal power connection seriously affects the quality of residents' power supply, which may lead to voltage instability, grid overload and failure risks. (TASS)
