Odaily Planet Daily News Kraken announced today that it has obtained Electronic Money Institution (EMI) authorization from the Central Bank of Ireland. In addition, Kraken has successfully registered as a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) with the Bank of Spain.
The EMI license granted to Kraken’s Irish subsidiary enables Kraken to expand its euro fiat services in partnership with European banks. This covers customers in 27 European Union (EU) member states and European Economic Area (EEA) countries, a key growth area for the company.
In Spain, Kraken’s new VASP registration enables it to offer cryptocurrency exchange and custodial wallet services to Spanish residents. This follows recent VASP registrations in Ireland and Italy.
According to previous news, Kraken’s derivatives unit is negotiating with British regulators to expand its business.
