Microsoft's code hosting platform GitHub used OpenAI's language generation tools to create Copilot, which helps software developers write computer code, Jinten reported. Now GitHub is adding chat and voice capabilities to the app, allowing programmers to ask how to complete specific coding tasks. The new version, unveiled Wednesday, is called Copilot X, and the GitHub CEO said the (newly added) chat window can explain the purpose of code snippets, create ways to test code, and suggest bug fixes. Developers can also use their voices to give instructions or ask questions. He also said that developers can sign up for a waiting list to preview the new service. He hopes the software can be used in education.
