Russia’s central bank has finalized rules allowing trading platforms to offer retail customers Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT trading, effective November 17. According to Odaily, non-qualified investors may buy up to 300,000 rubles’ worth of cryptocurrency annually through each intermediary, while qualified investors will face no purchase limit; all investors must pass a test before trading.
Brokerages, asset managers and crypto trading service providers may offer the services. The Moscow Exchange plans to start cryptocurrency trading on December 1. Direct peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions between individuals will be prohibited from July 1, 2027.
