Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena reported third-quarter net profit of €542.9 million, up from €474 million a year earlier. According to Sina Finance, revenue rose 8.7% to €2 billion, supported by increases in net interest income and net fee and commission income; Visible Alpha's consensus estimate for net profit was €468.4 million. The bank said loan growth supported net interest income. For comparison, it restated its financial data for the first nine months of 2025 to include an acquired business, with no change to group net profit.
Last week, Monte dei Paschi shareholders rejected two bids to acquire other institutions, clearing the way for an acquisition by Intesa Sanpaolo. Monte dei Paschi said on Friday that it was evaluating Intesa Sanpaolo's offer and aimed to complete its assessment by the end of November. Intesa Sanpaolo has received European Central Bank approval for the acquisition, but is still awaiting approval from Italy's market regulator, which is expected early next week.
