European Parliament committee votes in favor of bank capital requirements regulation and directive, or requires banks to disclose exposure to cryptoassets and cryptoasset services

The European Parliament announced that the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs voted overwhelmingly in favor of amending the Capital Requirements Regulation and Capital Requirements Directive for banks. MEPs also want banks to disclose their exposure to cryptoassets and cryptoasset services, as well as a specific description of their risk management policies related to cryptoassets. The Commission has been invited to submit a legislative proposal by June 2023 on the dedicated prudential treatment of exposure to cryptoassets.
