TRM: 34 Cambodian Casinos Received $1.07 Billion in Crypto, 64% Linked to OFAC-Sanctioned Networks

Thirty-four physical casinos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, received about $1.07 billion in cryptocurrency from January 1 to September 7, 2026. According to ChainCatcher, TRM data show that 64% of the funds went to casinos linked to networks sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), while 99.9% was transferred as USDT on TRON. Monthly inflows averaged $148 million from January through May, then fell to about $95 million in July and August, but did not stop entirely. The casinos converted USDT to cash and conducted almost no necessary customer due diligence. Pawnshops, supermarkets and exchange counters across the city also offered cryptocurrency-to-cash services.
