Ed Davey Calls for Immediate 10p Cut to Fuel Duty

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey is urging the government to cut fuel duty by 10p a litre until Christmas and scrap a permanent increase due in January, according to BBC. The party says the move would reduce pump prices by 12p a litre and cost about £2bn, with Davey arguing it would pay for itself through higher tax receipts from stronger economic activity. He will also use a speech to his party conference on Tuesday to call for a cut in the bus fare cap from £3 to £1, a 10% reduction in rail fares, and the removal of VAT from public EV charging points.
