MetaMask has introduced an Added Protection security feature to reduce phishing risks tied to transaction previews that do not match actual execution results. According to Foresight News, the feature writes the result shown in the transaction preview into the execution conditions, and if the smart contract’s actual outcome differs, the transaction fails automatically, funds do not leave the wallet, and the user still pays the gas fee.
The feature is enabled by default, though users can turn it off on the confirmation page. It is now available on MetaMask browser extension v13.45 across 13 EVM networks that support smart accounts (EIP-7702), with mobile support to follow.
