Steven Adler Can Continue False Claims Act Suit Against The Sporn Company

According to Wallstreetcn, Steven Adler, a former consultant turned whistleblower, can continue his False Claims Act lawsuit accusing The Sporn Company Inc. and others of defrauding the U.S. government by importing jewelry from Canada without paying proper duties. The U.S. District Court for Vermont, Chief Judge Christina Reiss, denied a motion to dismiss, saying The Sporn Company failed to show that its $172,845 settlement reached in 2023 was an alternative remedy under the False Claims Act that would bar Adler's suit. The court also rejected the defendants' claim that it lacked jurisdiction, saying the U.S. Court of International Trade does not have jurisdiction over False Claims Act whistleblower lawsuits.
