According to Jin10, the Global Mining Development Report 2026 was officially released at the 2026 China International Mining Conference on September 11 by the China Geological Survey and China Mining News. The report said global mining is entering a period of overlapping change driven by the global energy transition, along with supply chain volatility and competition over international rules. It added that in 2025, the global supply-demand structure for mineral resources accelerated its adjustment, with clear differences across mineral categories: demand for energy minerals slowed overall, oil was in surplus, and natural gas production and consumption both rose; bulk minerals diverged, with steel supply falling and demand rising, copper and zinc both increasing in supply and demand, and aluminum both declining; strategic emerging minerals were generally in oversupply, with nickel and lithium surpluses deepening; and precious metals remained tight, with platinum and silver in short supply and gold in a balanced but tight market.
