China Issues 15th Five-Year Plan For Information And Communications Industry

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued the 15th Five-Year Plan for the information and communications industry, setting a goal of building a new-generation communications network by 2030, according to ETNet. The plan calls for industry revenue to reach RMB 4.1 trillion by 2030, cumulative investment in information infrastructure to total RMB 3.8 trillion, and annual growth in telecom business volume of 7%. It also targets 50 5G and 5G-A base stations per 10,000 people, smart computing capacity of 9,800 EFLOPS, and a 95% 5G and 5G-A user penetration rate. It also proposes building a national integrated computing network, deploying large-scale intelligent computing clusters of 10,000 cards and 100,000 cards or more in an orderly manner, and increasing support for domestic computing chips. The plan calls for wider use of 400G and faster transmission technologies, faster development of 6G commercial use, and the development of 6G base stations, core network equipment and 6G smartphones.
