According to the BBC, Indonesia's Anak Krakatau volcano erupted late on Friday, grounding more than 2,000 flights, stranding about 270,000 passengers and forcing airports to suspend operations for a second day. Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and three other airports extended closures until 18:00 local time on Monday after volcanic ash was detected in nearby airspace. Authorities said schools in the region moved classes online and some shipping operations were disrupted. The Geological Agency warned that the probability of further eruptions remains high, while the meteorological agency said ash reached as high as 6,000m on the Java side of the volcano and 15,000m on the Sumatra side and in parts of Banten. Officials also said there was no tsunami warning linked to the latest activity.
