The Zcash development team said it plans to introduce formal verification through a new privacy pool, Ironwood, aiming to mathematically eliminate the risk of “Undetectable Counterfeiting.”
According to Odaily, the move follows earlier reports of a vulnerability in the Orchard shielded pool.
The team said the Orchard issue has been fixed and there is currently no evidence it was exploited. However, it added that because it is theoretically impossible to confirm from on-chain history whether hidden counterfeiting ever occurred, the community decided to launch a new Ironwood shielded pool and conduct comprehensive formal verification of its protocol.
