Amazon has announced an additional investment of up to $25 billion in Anthropic, including $5 billion currently invested and an additional $20 billion in the future based on business milestones. This is a further increase on top of its previous investment of approximately $8 billion. Under the agreement, Anthropic will invest over $100 billion over the next 10 years in Amazon's cloud infrastructure to support its model training and scaling needs. The collaboration will also focus on Amazon's self-developed AI chips (such as the Trainium series), which are expected to provide approximately 1GW of computing power by the end of this year, with a long-term target of up to 5GW. This transaction marks a further deepening of the relationship between the two companies: Anthropic accelerates its access to computing resources to advance model development, while Amazon leverages this to expand its advantage in AI infrastructure and increase market adoption of its self-developed chips. Previously, Amazon also announced plans to invest up to $50 billion in OpenAI, demonstrating its comprehensive commitment to the AI landscape. (Nikkei)
