U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an interview with CBS News that he is "not ready yet" to abandon efforts to force Iran to reopen the Hormuz Strait. According to PANews, a CBS reporter contacted Trump on Tuesday morning to clarify his previous comments suggesting a possible withdrawal from the action. Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction with other countries for not deploying military forces to support U.S. and Israeli operations against Iran, but he emphasized that he is not prepared to withdraw the U.S. from the conflict. "At some point, I will do it, but not now. Other countries must step in and handle it themselves. Iran has been weakened, but they must complete the work themselves," Trump stated. He also reaffirmed that despite Iran's continued attacks on ships and infrastructure in Persian Gulf countries, the Hormuz Strait does not pose a real threat. "Let them fight for it themselves. They are unwilling to help anyone. NATO is terrible, they are all terrible. So if they want oil, they should get it themselves," Trump remarked.
