Claude has announced a new feature allowing users to automate computer tasks. According to Foresight News, this capability enables users to open applications, browse the web, and fill out spreadsheets, among other desktop operations. Currently, this feature is available as a research preview exclusively for macOS and can be accessed through Claude Cowork and Claude Code.
Claude prioritizes using connected integrated applications like Slack and calendars. If the necessary tools lack connectors, it will request user permission to directly open applications on the screen. Users can assign tasks via their phones and later review the results on their computers. Additionally, users can set up recurring tasks, such as scanning emails every morning or pulling reports every Friday. This feature is currently limited to Pro and Max users.
