According to Onchain Lens monitoring, address 0x7a7 received 7,447 ETH (approximately $16.29 million) from Tornado Cash, suspected to be the attacker in the CAKE/THE liquidation cascade event on Venus Protocol. This address used ETH as collateral on Aave to borrow $9.92 million in stablecoins, then accumulated THE and seemingly drove up its price on a CEX, before depositing 36.1 million THE into Venus and lending out assets such as BTC, BNB, and CAKE. Approximately 40 minutes later, the price of THE fell, triggering liquidation. This event resulted in $2.15 million in bad debt for Venus, of which $1.18 million in CAKE and $1.84 million in THE remain outstanding. The attacker withdrew approximately $5.07 million in assets. The actual profit likely came from short positions on the CEX during the price drop.
