The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington in Seattle is reviewing transactions between U.S. hedge funds and Binance, instructing hedge funds to hand over their communication records with Binance, legal experts say the subpoena has not been reported before, the Washington Post reported, citing sources. That doesn't necessarily mean authorities are likely to press charges. Binance chief strategy officer Patrick Hillmann said in an interview that the company "is in daily communication with almost every regulator in the world," but declined to comment on the status of any investigations in the United States. Prosecutors are still discussing the possibility of a settlement with Binance and weighing whether they have enough evidence to indict Binance, Reuters reported last month.
