Blockchain infrastructure company Gattaca has launched Silver, an open-source Ethereum consensus client. According to ChainCatcher, Gattaca says Silver was built from scratch to support shorter slots and post-quantum security while maintaining decentralization, censorship resistance, privacy, and security. The client is in alpha, and audits and final testing are not yet complete. Gattaca also operates the Ethereum block builder Titan Builder and relay Titan Relay.
Gattaca reports that Silver’s state transition function has p99 latency below 10 milliseconds, about 10 times faster than other clients. In a mainnet test window from October 17 to 20, 2026, Silver, Prysm, Lighthouse, and Grandine processed the same 20,300 canonical blocks. Silver’s median block-processing latency was 6.5 milliseconds and its p99 was 9.5 milliseconds; the slowest block in the sample took 17.8 milliseconds. The next-lowest median was 33.5 milliseconds, and the next-lowest p99 was 91 milliseconds. All four clients ran as supernodes, subscribed to all 64 attestation subnets, and hosted all 128 data columns; ethrex v29.0.1 was used as the execution client. The comparison used each client’s available consensus-processing metrics and excluded execution-client processing time.
Silver is based on Gattaca’s Flux framework and uses six threads pinned to CPU cores for parallel processing. It also includes a low-latency peer-to-peer network, a state-hashing library, formally verified BLS and KZG cryptographic libraries, and a node cluster for slashing protection. In a separate comparison, supernodes verified about 32 times as many proofs and 16 times as many KZG cell proofs as default configurations, while block-processing latency and resident memory remained in similar ranges.
