Humans Still Do Work Behind Some AI Agents

According to CNBC, AI agents from companies including Meta and OpenAI still struggle to reliably complete tasks involving phone calls, scheduling and real-world judgment, leading some startups to bring in human contractors. Duckbill recently launched an API that lets companies building personal agents delegate tasks to workers, while Dazzle AI uses contractors when its technology flags a task it cannot handle. Dazzle CEO Marissa Mayer said current models can provide useful recommendations but may fail at complex tasks, and Duckbill CEO Meghan Joyce said human judgment remains important. Meta currently does not use humans to complete users’ Muse requests.
