Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said he would not mind paying billions more in taxes if California voters approve the proposed billionaire tax this fall. According to Sina Finance, the proposal would impose a one-time 5% tax on California residents with net assets of at least $1 billion.
Huang, whose wealth is estimated at $184 billion, said paying up to $8 billion in taxes over five years would not be a problem for him. He described the ability to afford that amount as a privilege and a responsibility, and said nothing makes him happier than being able to pay more taxes.
He also joked about his vast fortune, saying he is not afraid of paying taxes, only of becoming poor. Huang described himself as the embodiment of the “ultimate American dream” and credited U.S. education and career opportunities for helping him become an entrepreneur. He also recalled working as a dishwasher at Denny’s before co-founding the chip company.
