0x Says Malicious Uniswap v4 Hooks Are Increasing

0x said it routed 81.92 million transactions and $42.67 billion in volume this year, with about 70% touching Uniswap liquidity. According to ChainCatcher, the company said malicious Uniswap v4 hooks have recently increased, using one price in quote requests and another at settlement to profit by deceiving aggregators, wallets, and trading apps. After analyzing 84,163 hooks across six blockchains, 0x said only 19.4% were safe, while 54.2% were malicious and 26.4% were potentially malicious. It added that transactions routed through malicious v4 hooks can end up delivering as much as 50% less than the quoted amount at execution. 0x cited examples including Base chain ETH/NVDAc pool hooks that have collected about $143,000 in fees and BNB Chain USDT/WBNB pool hooks that have collected about $18,600. The company said routers must ensure quoted amounts match actual execution behavior, applications need controls to quickly exclude suspicious routes, and users should understand that the best quote is only useful when the route is safe. 0x said it has taken measures including detection and pool reviews to keep such pools out of routing.
