U.S. Responds to Iran's Claim of Capturing Underwater Drone: Device Had Malfunctioned and Carried No Sensitive Data

According to Jin10, U.S. officials said an American-operated underwater drone did malfunction more than a day earlier while conducting reconnaissance in regional waters, after Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) claimed to have captured it. The official said it was an older unmanned underwater vehicle, did not collect sensitive data, and was not equipped with any classified sonar or radar equipment. The malfunctioning vehicle was not seized by an Iranian operation, and U.S. military activity in the relevant waters is continuing.
