Iranian-Owned VLCC DOWNY Reportedly Hit While Empty, Tankertrackers Says

According to Jin10, tanker tracking firm Tankertrackers said satellite images showed that the VLCC DOWNY, owned by Iran's National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC), was attacked and was in ballast with no oil cargo on board. Satellite images also showed multiple tugboats operating around the vessel, with AIS data confirming the activity, which began at about 12:45 (UTC+8) today. The activity was concentrated at the vessel's port stern, indicating that the engine room was hit, likely by a U.S. Hellfire missile, while thermal images showed no signs of fire or smoke.
