Crypto Industry Sees 50 Major Hacks in August, Losses Total $136 Million

According to Odaily, the crypto industry recorded 50 major hacking incidents in August 2026, up 67% from 30 in July. Total losses were about $136 million, down 49.5% from the previous month. The largest hack in August targeted Tectonic.cro, causing losses of about $74 million and ranking as the fourth-largest crypto theft of 2026, behind the Drift, KelpDAO/LayerZero, and Coldcard vulnerability incidents.
