Bessent Meets BOJ Governor Ueda and Japan's Finance Minister Katayama at G20 Talks

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent held separate talks with Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda and Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama during the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, according to Jiemian News. U.S. Treasury Under Secretary for International Affairs Erin Brown said Bessent stressed the importance of clearly communicating Japan's next steps to markets, including fiscal sustainability and the path of interest-rate increases, and said that was the appropriate policy direction going forward.
